Garmin spendiert dem Edge 1050 interessante Features! Im Rahmen der beiden letzten Beta-Updates v11.17 und v11.18 bekommt der Edge 1050 unter anderem
- die Möglichkeit, über die Tasten einer elektronischen Schaltung die Medienwiedergabe auf einem Smartphone zu steuern (ebenfalls beim Edge 1040 / 840 / 540),
- ein Kompass-Datenfeld,
- ein Karten-Datenfeld
- und grafische Datenfelder für die durchschnittliche Leistung über 10 s bzw. 30 s.
Das Kompass- bzw. das Karten-Datenfeld dürfte insbesondere für Bikepackerinnen und Bikepacker interessant sein, die in einer Gegend mit schlechter Kartenabdeckung per Luftlinie navigieren müssen. Das Karten-Datenfeld ist allerdings "dumm" – der Zoomfaktor bzw. die Kartenausrichtung nach Norden bzw. in Fahrtrichtung lässt sich nur auf der eigentlichen Kartenseite einstellen.
